    BrickPi

Buildingblocks is proud to announce that we are currently carrying Dexter's Brickpi as seen on their Kickstarter campaign.
  • BrickPi
BrickPi is a system that converts Raspberry Pi into a robot. The project is a board and case that connects LEGO® Mindstorms Sensors, motors, and parts to turn your credit card size computer into a robot. The BrickPi allows you to connect up to 4 NXT or EV3 Motors and 5 NXT Sensors. It has a 9V battery power source that powers the motors, sensors, and Raspberry Pi, un-tethering the Pi from the wall. It has a sturdy case with holes that snap with LEGO parts. The brains of a Raspberry Pi joined with the LEGO building system.

Brickpi Basic Power VS Brickpi Advance Power
Brickpi Advance Power comes with a built in power regulator, thus increasing the battery usage up to 2x! Building Block's BrickPi Module by Dexter Industries

    Getting Started

    • To get started with the BrickPi, please see Dexter's Getting Started Page. We have a step-by-step guide and videos to help you get started with building LEGO robots right away.

    Programming the BrickPi

    • The BrickPi can be programmed in Python, C, and Scratch. You can find information on using all three languages, including examples and drivers, on Dexter Industries github site here.

    Projects

    • We have a number of projects for the BrickPi setup to demonstrate its use. The BrickPi is easy to integrate with the web, and many of our projects demonstrate how to control your robot with web-pages, the SSH, Twitter, and other web services. Our projects include detailed Bill of Materials on the LEGO parts you will need to use, as well as programs to run them. Please see our Projects Section.

    Inertial Motion Sensor
The Dexter Industries dIMU Sensor reads reads acceleration, tilt, and speed of rotation. This sensor combines a gyroscope and accelerometer into one sensor, allowing your robots to do amazing things! Both the accelerometer and the gyroscope read on all three axes (x, y, and z). Build robots that know which way is up, can measure tilt, balance themselves, and measure acceleration and rotation on all axes all at once.

The accelerometer works on three different levels and can measure ±2g, ±4g, and ±8g. The accelerometer can be calibrated for static acceleration of gravity.

The gyroscope works on three different levels of precision as well, and can measure ±250, ±500, and ±2,000 degrees per second. The gyroscope has zero offset and very low drift, making it very suitable for inexperienced users.

The sensor is supported in NXT-G, RobotC, NXC, and Labview for LEGO MINDSTORMS (LVLM).

NXT PSU (External Power Supply for NXT)
NXT PSU allows you to power your Lego Mindstorms NXT designs without using batteries. The NXT PSU was created to fulfill the need of having a regulated power source for a long period of time without the need of constantly swapping batteries.

The NXT PSU is an essential addition for anyone who are building static projects requiring a consistent power source. As the battery becomes weaker, the NXT Motor becomes inconsistent.

It would be especially useful for participants of the recent National Robotics Competition (NRC) or World Robot Olympiad (WRO), where participants in the open category always has stationary display projects.

Developed locally by "During Works" development team. Currently sold exclusively at Building Blocks.
